Michael Sham - TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Franchisee

Almost immediately after graduating high school, Michael Sham was on his way to enrolling in the Navy, and was soon after working in roles with heavy responsibility.

Sham served in the Navy for six years, and worked as an aviation electronics technician, where he worked on S-3B Vikings and P-3 Orions in both San Diego, Calif., and Jacksonville, Fla. His responsibilities covered a wide range, including working on tactical air navigation, radios, radar, instrument landing systems, and other electronics in the aircraft.

When his time in the Navy was up, he enrolled at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss., where he began pursuing a degree in exercise physiology with a dream of one day becoming a strength and conditioning coach. During this time, he was also running his own small moving company on the side.

He soon hired into the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system as a mover in 2013, and quickly worked his way up the ladder to become a general manager at the Jackson, Miss., franchise in just two months. Sham became one of the first people to participate in the Mary Ellen’s Moving People forward scholarship program – a yearlong extensive training program helping team members in the system learn the foundations of successful franchising.

“The scholarship program taught me what it takes to get a successful new franchise off the ground,” Sham said. “There is a lot that goes into getting an operation up and running, and all of the bases were covered in the program. The relationships that were built during the program with Home Office, other franchisees, and managers was invaluable.”

Upon completion of the program, Sham was awarded $10,000 toward starting his own TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise, and in May of 2016, opened the Southaven, Miss., franchise alongside franchisees Jeff Taylor and Jack Christopher.
