TWO MEN AND A TRUCK enters Q3 celebrating its nine millionth move, 11 new locations opened and continued franchise expansion across the U.S.

The 390-unit moving franchise has rolled out several new services in recent years, including junk removal and storage, as franchisees continue to flock to the brand.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, the nation’s largest franchisor in the moving industry with over 400 franchises and 3,000 trucks in operation, closed out the first half of 2022 with impressive momentum. So far this year, the brand celebrated its nine millionth move, opened 11 new locations and added 70 new trucks onto the road.

Randy Shacka - president of two men and a truck

"Each year, we break new records and hit new milestones,” said Randy Shacka, President of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. “2022 has been no exception as we’re preparing to move into new markets, expand our existing territories and grow our footprint to meet the demand for high-quality moving services. In addition, we have introduced several critical enhancements that have all but secured TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s position as one of the best investments in franchising.”

One of those enhancements is the addition of junk removal services as a significant revenue stream for franchisees. Currently, 67 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchise owners are offering the service.

“Increasingly, junk removal is proving to be an easy decision as an add-on for our franchise owners,” said Shacka. “So many moving jobs require these services as well. By providing that service, we have made TWO MEN AND A TRUCK a one-stop-shop for our customers and created a new revenue stream for owners.”

Shacka says the franchise has doubled the number of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations offering junk removal services this year, and franchise owners are increasingly eager to bring the offering to their territories. Revenue from this avenue has also grown consistently since its launch in 2019, Shacka says, and an impressive 97% of junk removal customers are referring the brand to other customers.

“It’s been an incredible boost for our system,” Shacka said. “We have franchise owners who have been with us for 25 years who are taking on new services and finding opportunities to grow. Ultimately, that’s what it’s all about for the brand’s team: finding new ways to bring more opportunities to our franchise owners.”

Another enhancement rolled out this year is the brand’s range of storage options, which diversify revenue streams and secure year-round business opportunities for franchisees. To leverage any facilities a franchisee may have, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK offers a range of storage options, including both on-site and off-site, vaulted and portable.

Storage also offers TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchisees year-round consistency in their revenue streams. Moving is a dependable, recession-resistant business, but it is seasonal, with business spiking in the warmer months.

“We’ve been a leader in this industry for nearly four decades, and we didn’t achieve that longevity by doing one thing right, congratulating ourselves and then relaxing; we are always looking forward,” Shacka said. “We are always thinking about how we can offer more and better services for our customers and a stronger, more profitable business for our franchisees. Storage along with our junk removal services are a great example of that philosophy in action, and we can’t wait to roll out new innovations in the years to come.”

In addition to the continued rollout of new and improved services, the brand also saw continued franchise expansion nationwide, opening its seventh location in California, an untapped state with expansion potential. Franchisees Samantha and Aaron Miller are using their management and operations experience in the retail industry as they dive headfirst into franchising. While researching different opportunities in the franchising industry, Samantha wanted to find a brand that valued helping its employees grow in their careers, something she had become passionate about during her time in retail.

When I was initially researching franchises, I spoke to 20 brands from retail to food, and after speaking with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and learning about their values and what they stood for, I was hooked,” she said. “I knew I could be successful with their support behind me. By partnering with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, I didn’t have to wait to build brand recognition, but I could jump right in. I also called every franchise owner in California and many across the country and basically interviewed them to learn more about their experience with the brand. I didn’t meet anyone who didn’t love TWO MEN AND A TRUCK.”

To close out the year, the brand will continue to focus on franchise expansion throughout the country, with available territories still open in New Jersey, New York, California, Texas, West Virginia, and Massachusetts.

With the number of people moving in 2021 up nearly 20% nationwide compared to 2020, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s services are needed now more than ever as people seek new homes, storage and junk removal in 2022.

As more and more entrepreneurs recognize TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s well-positioned business model and multiple revenue streams, Shacka says the company is ready to continue this momentum through 2022 and hit new milestones along the way.
