TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Sees Strong Midyear Momentum with 21 Signings, 18 Openings and Record-Breaking Revenue from VALUE FLEX Program

In the first half of 2024, the full-service moving franchise saw significant growth in California and was recognized by Franchise Business Review and Entrepreneur.

For TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®(opens in a new window), the first half of 2024 has been an impressive showing of aggressive expansion, accolades and record-breaking achievements, from surpassing 10 million moves, celebrating 35 years in franchising, and much more. The full-service moving franchise — with more than 430 locations and 3,000 trucks operating in 48 U.S. states, Canada, Ireland and the UK — has hit midyear with 21 franchises signed and 18 locations opened between January and June.

Pam batten - compliance director

“We’ve still got quite a nice number left to open that are either working through getting their licensing or finding a location,” said Franchise Compliance Director Pam Batten(opens in a new window). “So, we still probably have a nice 10-12 left to open that have just been signed, not counting the ones that will hopefully sign the rest of the year.”

Batten attributes this successful growth to a combination of factors. “We’ve had quite a few of our current franchisees continue to expand, giving their managers opportunities or partnering with them to become franchisees,” she said. “We’ve also gone back to looking for new prospective franchisees outside of the system.”

Accolades and Awards

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has garnered significant recognition(opens in a new window) this year, underscoring its robust franchise system and exceptional service quality. Strategic Expansion in California

The company’s growth trajectory has been particularly notable in California, where there have been 14 franchise signings over the past 18 months in Temecula Valley, Irvine, San Diego, Huntington Beach, Berkeley, Riverside, Pasadena, Anaheim, Stockton, Modesto, Fresno, Oakland and East Los Angeles.

“We’d really like to work to fill out California,” said Batten. “We have 25 total markets that will be open in California within the next 60 days or so, but we still have 13 available markets. Other areas of focus are New Jersey and New York City.”

Record-Breaking VALUE FLEX® Program

June 2024 marked the highest revenue month in the history of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s VALUE FLEX(opens in a new window) program, a cost-effective moving solution for customers who need long-distance moving services. VALUE FLEX focuses on smaller interstate moves, using a crated moving system that allows for the safe and secure transport of items.

Blake Casey

“What this program really does is connect our franchise system as a whole, allowing us to partner together and move customers as one group,” said Blake Casey(opens in a new window), moving service manager for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. “This is a more budget-friendly option for a cross-country move.”

The job count for VALUE FLEX hit an astounding 1,730 bookings by midyear, up 86 from the same period in 2023. Franchises with the most VALUE FLEX bookings in June included Chicago Seattle, and Austin.

“We launched this program at the end of 2019, with 2020 being our first full year of running it,” said Casey. “In 2020, we did $2.1 million for the entire year. In June of 2024, we finished just shy of $2.1 million. In a single month, we were able to accomplish what we did in all of 2020.”

Busiest Moving Weekend

The last weekend of June is traditionally the busiest moving weekend of the year for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK due to a number of contributing factors: end of lease agreements, school year transitions, work/vacation schedules and general weather. This year was no exception, with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK clocking some truly mind-blowing statistics for June 28-30: a total of 11,951 crew members and 4, 754 trucks were used to complete 4,486 moves, transporting 14 million pounds of belongings a total of 546,494 miles.

“You’ve got to commend the movers and drivers everywhere in the country for our busiest move weekend,” said Casey. “On average, they’re not only out there moving for 12 hours a day, but they’re doing it in 90-degree heat and at a high referral rate.”

Career Move Season 2024

Career Move Season is a three-month initiative focused on providing franchises with the knowledge and tools they need to build up their teams for the busy moving season. Originally launched as Career Move Month in 2013, this initiative has evolved into a full Career Move Season spanning February to April. This year, the program aimed to hire 5,000 individuals across the franchise system but exceeded expectations with 7,007 new hires.

Randy Shacka - president

“Career Move Season is a great way to provide opportunities to potential hires and encourage them to join a brand that thrives off moving customers and employees forward,” said President Randy Shacka. “We always look forward to adding new talent to our moving teams as we continue to grow as a brand.”
